About

About the Temple

The Shree Laxminarasimha temple is believed to have been constructed between 1509 and 1529, during the rule of Krishna Deva Raya, Emperor of the Vijayanagara Empire.

The management of the temple is believed to have passed through three or more sects of Hindu communities before being completely forgotten in history.

The credit for the revival of the temple goes to the Kotraguthu family(aliya santhana). The family performed the “Ashtamangala prashna” and as a remedy, the present structure of the temple was constructed in 1942 under the leadership of Subbanna Pakala.

Presently, the temple is run by Shri Padmanabha Rai and K Laxminaraynan Alva of the Kotraguthu family.

To assist the management of the temple Sri. K.T.Rai (Advocate, Mumbai) founded a charitable trust named as Kalyani Holding Charitable Trust. The above trust is registered under Income Tax Act as Religious Charitable Trust.

An appeal

The enactment of the Karnataka Land reforms Act 1961, worked detrimental to the temple management committee. The income of the Kotraguthu family reduced considerably making it difficult to maintain the temple.
Moreover, being located in the interior of the village area, without proper road connectivity, the temple management committee found it tougher to meet the expenses required to maintain the temple. Kalyani Holding Charitable Trust, which is managed by Dr Narasimha Rai (Managing Trustee) and Shri Y Seetharam Shetty (CA), as secretary and treasurer, have been working relentlessly towards the maintenance and development of the temple. However, with current reduced interest rates on bank deposits, the desired development of the temple may not be possible.

Therefore, we now appeal to the devotees to contribute generously towards the maintenance and development of this sacred and ancient temple. It is pertinent to note that one of the devotees of the temple, Sri KT Rai has generously donated land at Amblamogaru to the trust. We request our revered devotees and esteemed members of the public to come forward and contribute towards the maintenance of the Shree Laxminarasimha Temple, Amblamogaru.
